Support Local Busineses on October 12

Contribute 2009

Take the pledge to support local businesses on October 12 with me. I can't stress how important it is to support your local merchants. As a third generation of small business owners I even see myself as one who has ventured from family tradition with a career path that does not fully engage in the family business. As of late I have found interest in small business with Scentsy and have been impressed by the support they provide to their independent consultants and the concern they have for community.

So, on October 12 pledge to spend at least $50 at a small business and be a part of Contribute 2009.

Review Lexington

My colleague, Henrietta Ritchie-Holbrook, put me on to a great new blog called Review Lexington (reviewlex.com) that plans to cover one story each day for the next year. This positive news service was launched August 1 and you can read more about it on the initial Review Lexington Post.

This is a great opportunity for businesses, non-profits, etc. to share their stories and reach new audiences. I am looking forward to reading these post that highlight the good things going on around us.

If you would like to be highlighted or know of someone or something that should be highlighted I would recommend checking this out. It is inevitable that as the momentum of this blog gets rolling there will be a long line of people sponsoring stories.

Bloggers Block

Thinking of exciting posts to share has not been hard. Getting to the computer at an appropriate time to actually construct them has.

Taking the time to write a blog post is a lot like taking the time to workout. Which I did today even if I did forget the combination to my locker. So far so good, I can still move with no soreness but not sure what tomorrow will bring.

As a result of being pulled in 9 directions, I have forgotten most of the interesting topics I planned to share this week. Is this a direct reflection of too much to do, having given birth to 2 children or just old age creeping up?

Regardless, I am not giving up. I have a lot to share and just need to start making a list of these items so when I finally do get to blog I have fodder to work with.

As Bro Bill Watson shared Sunday, "failure is a line of least persistence".

BTW: Had to write this quote on the church bulletin to make sure I remembered it.

What are the Chances?

What are the chances that anyone would want to know what I think? It has been hard for me to embrace the whole idea of sharing what is on my mind when we spend much of our days listening to folks and saying TMI. Therefore I have always been a very private person because Chances Are no one really wants to know.

But in my most recent book choice, "The Whuffie Factor" by Tara Hunt I thought it might be fun to dabble. Sharing a few antidotes along the way might be fun. I do seem to be a good listener and often give advice to friends and family who are seeking help. My only gauge of being a good listener is the fact they keep coming back.

So, here I am! Thought my blog title "GriffinScents" was appropriate since it represents both my sensibility and my new business venture with Scentsy that helps me connect with people and has provided me a new challenge to compliment my already mile high list of work and kid hurdles.

I am certain my postings will not be error free - nor would I want to spend the time to make them so, I want this to be fun :)
